3. Tips for traveling in Morocco, including what to wear, what to pack, and what cultural customs to be aware of.

Traveling in Morocco can be an exciting and enriching experience, but it’s important to be prepared before you go. First and foremost, you’ll want to consider the climate. Morocco is a hot and dry country with temperatures that can reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer months. It is essential to pack lightweight, breathable fabrics to stay comfortable in the heat. It’s also a good idea to pack a scarf or shawl to cover your head and shoulders if you plan on visiting any religious sites. Another important aspect to consider is cultural customs. Morocco is a predominantly Muslim country, and visitors should dress conservatively out of respect for the local culture. This means covering your arms and legs and avoiding tight-fitting clothing. It’s also important to remove your shoes when entering someone’s home or a mosque. When it comes to packing, be sure to include comfortable walking shoes as many of the cities and attractions are best explored on foot. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to protect yourself from the strong sun. It’s also a good idea to pack a small bag or backpack for day trips. Finally, it’s important to be aware of the customs and etiquette in Morocco. For example, it’s customary to haggle at markets, but it’s important to do so respectfully. Learning basic Arabic phrases can also be helpful in communicating with locals and showing respect for their culture. By following these tips, you can fully enjoy our 7-day Imperial Cities tour in Morocco either on Private or in Small Group and ensure a memorable and rewarding experience.

Rabat – Morocco’s capital is the home to the country’s most magnificent museum, the Royal Palace, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the spectacular historical sightseeing attractions. Based on the Atlantic Ocean, with the Bou Regreg River running towards the west and separating from its sister city Sale, Rabat is a lovely place for your vacation getaway.

Rabat has a much peaceful and calmer atmosphere than Casablanca. A Rabat city tour can be a pleasant surprise and a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of busy life for many tourists. Even the history lovers will enjoy wandering the Chellah excavation area and discovering the beautiful Oudaias Kasbah.

Here are a few best places to visit on a Rabat city tour:

Oudaias Kasbah –

Kasbah District is one of the top sightseeing draws around the city of Rabat. There are Andalusian style eleventh-century fortress walls and a tranquil and tiny neighborhood of twisting white and blue lanes. You can take an aimless, meandering stroll, and the city’s winding alleys are the delight to be photographed.

Hassan Tower - Rabat Day tour

Hassan Tower –

The Hassan Tower was the work of the ruler Yacoub al-Mansour and would have been the minaret for its grandeur of a mosque on the site. After this death, the construction was abandoned, and the 45-meter high tower remains. The tower’s façade is covered by stunning and intricate motifs and designs, showcasing the sumptuousness of the founder’s vision. Mausoleum of Mohammed V is present next to the Hassan Tower.

Mausoleum of Mohamed V –

The Mausoleum of King Mohammed V is sparkling in every aspect. This opulent tomb chamber is decorated resplendently. The magnificent zellige tilework covers the walls surrounding the marble tomb. It symbolizes the traditional designs by the Moroccans.

Its carved cedar ceiling is enclosed in gold leaf and is worthwhile. Visitors should be dressed respectfully (shoulders and knees are covered) and can be able to view the mausoleum’s tomb chamber from above.

Chellah Necropolis –

The Chellah Necropolis are the remnants of the fourteenth-century Merenid citadel town and the atmospheric place that deserves to visit. The walled ruins are present in an older Roman town – Sala. Archaeologists uncovered this town as the evidence of the 1930s.

The crumbled ruins of the mausoleums and mosques built here are currently covered with rambling brambles, offering nesting sites for storks. The excavated Roman area of the site includes a bath, a forum, and a temple. If you want to have a better overview of the Chellah ruins, you should stop at an overlooking terrace that offers excellent views around the site.

Medina –

The rambling medina area in Rabat has an exceptional Andalusian style in its buildings. They showcase the magnificent architecture from the seventeenth century. The shopping streets like Rue Souka and Souk es Sebbat and a vast array of impressive buildings make wandering here worthwhile.

Plan a visit to the Koubba Mosque, the Merenid Fountain, and the Grand Mosque. You can stop at the Mellah located in the southwest corner of the medina, which has an attractive flea market.

Introducing Casablanca –

Casablanca, a well-known commercial hub in Morocco, deserves to be on traveler’s bucket list after Marrakech and Rabat. The city boasts the French colonial legacy along with the traditional Arabian culture, making for lots of things to do and see. Alongside the art deco buildings and old stone medina alleys, you can find museums, palaces, and the second-largest mosque around the world.

Here are a few best places to visit in Casablanca and you can consider adding them to the bucket list of Casablanca city tours:

Hassan II Mosque

The iconic Hassan II Mosque is the second largest mosque around the world, and one of the few opens to non-Muslim visitors through the chosen guided tour opportunities lasting around an hour each. The gigantic mosque is completed in 1993 and based on a platform overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

This holy mosque can accommodate around 25,000 worshippers and allows Muslims to pray on a glass floor, which seems like an exceptional feeling of praying directly over the sea. Everyone feels welcomed to admire the spectacular piece of art at any time from the spacious courtyard, as it can accommodate around 80,000 people comfortably.

La Corniche

La Corniche is a beachfront district offering enormous dining opportunities, accessibilities to pools as well as the beach. This area can be brimming with surfing enthusiasts, swimmers, and sunbathers during summer. La Corniche offers a less traditional and more vacation escape in Morocco. With plentiful entertainment options, you will get a chance to take a relaxing walk on the beach or even a refreshing dip in the sea, if you want to dare yourself.

Morocco Mall

Morocco Mall is one of the biggest shopping centers throughout Africa, located at the end of the La Corniche area. This a modern home offering enough chances to entertain anyone from couples to families for the entire day.

With an extensive range of shops – from H&M to Dior and food options, Morocco Mall stands out as a home to an indoor aquarium, featuring a small shark, a fountain display in the outside, indoor ice skating and an indoor fairground. This means everyone finds something for them in Morocco Mall. For a traditional taste of Morocco, there’s an indoor souk (market). Otherwise, you should leave the traditional shopping to the Old Medina.

Old Medina

The old part of town is quite easy to pass by in Casablanca. You might be tempted to head straight to the seaside to visit the Hassan II Mosque and the beach area. However, discover the hidden charms behind the old city walls is a must on Casablanca city tours.

With its specific labyrinth style character, getting lost there is easy; but with a bit caution, it can be hidden beauty in itself. You will experience the pace of daily life with kids running in the narrow streets and join shoppers on the search of traditional treasures and find the little sights that remain inside the medina like the Berber Mosque.

Moroccan Judaism Museum

Moroccan Judaism Museum is the only Jewish museum around the Arab world. This museum offers a better insight into the religion, history, traditions, and lifestyle of Jews in Moroccan civilization. The museum presents exhibition rooms comprising of paintings, ornaments, clothes, and a complete display of Moroccan synagogues. The Moroccan Judaism Museum demonstrates the Jewish influence on Moroccan society and highlights the interfaith coexistence in the Moroccan civilization.

What our Agadir Shore Excursion is All About?

The half-day Agadir shore excursion that begins from the Agadir port includes:

Kasbah of Agadir –

The major historical attraction of the Kasbah of Agadir is its massive walls and the gateway. The Kasbah was built in the mid-16th century that once accommodated a bustling population within its walls. The hillside position of the Kasbah offers magnificent panoramic views across Agadir and the Atlantic coastline. This place offers the best photographic conditions in the late afternoon.

Visit the Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions –

Also known as the Berber Museum or the Musee du Patrimoine Amazigh d’Agadir, this museum is dedicated to the preservation and showcasing of the local Amazigh culture. You will be able to peek into the rich traditions of the locals. The exhibits here include dazzling Berber jewelry, clothing, pottery, lamps, textiles, tools and art.

The Swiss District –

The Swiss district is a marvelous place within Agadir that is located among the spectacular sandy beaches, desert landscapes and striking rock formations. It is the oldest villa neighborhood of the Agadir city.

Besides these three our Agadir shore excursion includes the visit to the main shopping area, the carpet factory and the artisan’s district where you will get an opportunity to attend the demonstrations of lace making, embroidery, and wood.

Also, if time permits we will make you visit the souks. The best local market for buying souvenirs and getting a glimpse of the local trade is Souk El-Had (or the Sunday Market) which is a large souk with about 6000 stalls. This souk is famous for its Argan Oil products. You can also find the best traditional Moroccan items such as clothing, footwear, pottery, rugs, carpets and more here.
